The SpectraLife is designed for use in laboratory research applications requiring monochromatic illumination. More specifically indications which call for re-agent grade illumination of petri dishes with cell samples or for photostimulation and other photobiological research.
Quantum Devices, Inc.'s (QDI) core technology is high intensity, wavelength specific, solid state lighting systems.
QDI has been awarded several domestic and foreign patents, with others pending, for the use of their core technology in medical and agriculture research. QDI’s SpectraLife® lighting systems are considered the gold standards for photobiomodulation research and photodynamic cancer therapy.
QDI originally developed its high intensity solid state lighting technology nearly twenty years ago for NASA. NASA was looking for a high intensity, low heat generating, lighting system to support the agriculture needs of long range manned space missions. Success with NASA lead to commercialization of the technology into other areas of basic research resulting in the WARP 10 and WARP 75.
