About
The WARP 10®
Dear Friends,
The term "minor pain" is rapidly becoming an oxymoron
as our aging population becomes more prone to arthritis and the
muscle and joint pain that accompany the aging process. The American
Pain Society estimates that 45% of the population seeks medical
help for persistent pain at sometime in their lives. Medical economists'
estimate that pain costs the U.S. some $100 billion every year,
including 515 million workdays lost and 40 million doctor visits.1
Arthritis is the second most common reason for purchasing non-prescription
(over-the-counter, NSAIDs) drugs.1 Adverse events associated with
the use of Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs - such
as ibuprofen, aspirin, acetominophen) are reported more frequently
to the Food and Drug Administration than are those associated with
any other group of drugs.3 Conservative calculations for the United States
estimate that approximately 107,000 patients are hospitalized annually
for NSAID-related GI complications and at least 16,500 NSAID-related
deaths occur each year among arthritis patients alone (more than
asthma, cervical cancer or melanoma combined). 2,4,5
We, at Quantum Devices, believe we have a better answer for the
economic and personal distress of NSAIDS for the temporary relief
of persistent minor pain. The WARP 10® is designed to assist armed forces personnel on the front lines
with immediate first aid and care for minor injuries and pain, thereby improving
endurance in combat. The WARP 10 was originally developed under a contract for
the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), by QDI, the pioneers of
the NASA, High Emissivity Aluminiferous Light-emitting Substrate, HEALS® technology.
QDI invented the high-intensity, solid-state lighting systems
for NASA that have become the gold standards for photobiomodulation
(PBMT) research, photo dynamic cancer therapy and agriculture research.
The WARP 10 is a high intensity, hand-held, portable, LED (light
emitting diode) unit, intended for the treatment of chronic pain
by emitting energy in the near-infrared (NIR) spectrum. This includes:
the temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain, arthritis
and muscle spasms; and relieving stiffness, promoting relaxation
of muscle tissue and temporarily increasing local blood circulation,
where applied.
QDI is dedicated to the principle that light provides the power
for all life on earth. We believe the quality, delivery and control
of light is essential to the wellness of the human race and our
advancement into the future. To this end we are pleased to offer
the FDA approved consumer version of the WARP 10 as a viable alternative
to the cost and complications associated with the overuse of NSAIDS
for persistent minor pain relief.
Sincerely,
Ronald Ignatius
